Body Type 1 (E)

Description

Body Type 1 (E) has difficulty digesting fats/lipids (e.g. fried foods, butter, cream sauces, rich or spicy foods) because they have a lipase deficiency. This body type is therefore drawn to spicy and strongly flavoured foods, such as curries.

Their inability to break down fats/lipids keeps them from properly utilizing fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E and K). They gain weight in their hips and thighs, with shoulders narrower than hips. Their buttocks are low and flat.

Common Problems

*     Gallbladder stress

*     High cholesterol

*     Hysterectomy

*     Acne

*     Cataracts

*     Gallstones

*     Arthritis

*     Prostate disorders

*     Hormonal imbalances

*     Urinary bladder disorders

*     Breast lumps

*     Hives

Nutrition

The Type 1 (E) will need to make a conscious effort to reduce fried, greasy and high fat foods that tend to stress their gallbladder. While processed fats should be avoided, moderate portions of healthy fats rich in Omega-3 fatty acids are recommended. Their diet should include “white” protein (e.g. chicken, fish, eggs) at every meal. If weight loss is desired, portion control and calorie restriction will be necessary.

Exercise

A total body workout consisting of low-rep, slow, controlled movements to build the under-developed upper body and high-rep, quick, controlled movements to tone the lower body, combined with lots of stretching, is ideal. Cardio workouts should be done 3-4 times each week for 20-30 minutes and should include brisk walking/jogging (with wrist weights) or swimming.
